Why OneHEco

According to the ”One Health” approach human health, animal health and the environment are interrelated. Certain human infectious diseases, defined zoonoses, like Ebola, Sars, Covid19, West Nile Fever, Rift Valley Fever, Brucellosis and many others originate from animals.

Protecting animal health and the environment is an effective way to shield humans from major infections, epidemics and pandemics.

Zoonoses and animal infectious diseases represent a substantial menace, both economic and sanitary, especially for low-income countries due to the lack of facilities and resources.

Diagnostic tools are of the foremost importance in dealing with infectious diseases. Expanding access to veterinary diagnostic services in resource-limited settings  along with  epidemiological  monitoring is needed for successful control and prevention of animal infectious diseases and zoonotic diseases.

OneHEco is a non-profit organization involved in finding feasible solutions to help tackling these diseases from a diagnostic perspective.

What we do

Diagnostic Tests and Reagents

We collaborate in developing tests, reagents and easy to use low cost technologies for the diagnosis of animal infectious diseases and zoonotic diseases. Our goal is to render these products easily accessible to veterinarians, academic and testing laboratories with limited resources.

Epidemiological screenings

We partecipate in epidemiological studies and screenings for animal infectious diseases to help animal keepers to have more healthy and productive herds and protect humans and animals. We are particularly focused on health issues of endagered domestic breeds.

Web Courses, Seminars and Labinars

We promote the ”One Health” multidisciplinar approach to human and animal health issues. We organize seminars, short courses, and laboratory workshops and demonstrations (Labinars) for educational and other interested institutions, using web based technologies.
