We developed an ELISA kit useful for CAEV/Maedi Visna, an infectous disease of ship and goats. This kit is a available to limited resources laboratories.

We are in the last stages of development of an ELISA test kit for Equine infectious anemia, a disease of horses, donkeys and mules.

We have obtained a recombinant protein essential for an indirect ELISA for Rift Valley Fever, a zoonotic disease. We are looking for cooperating African laboratories for further development.

We have expressed in bacteria , using synthetic genes , a number of other recombinant higly purified proteins of viral origin including Bovine Leukemia Virus P24 protein, Sars Cov2 ( Covid19) Nucleocapsidic Protein , West Nile Fever Virus Domain III of glycoprotein E, useful for research and diagnostic applications.

We are conducting a serological screening  for caprine arthritis encephalitis/Maedi Visna in southern Italy using our kit. The study regards local endangered goat and sheep breeds such as : Cilentana goat, Potenza goat, Neapolitan goat, Garganica goat, Bagnolese sheep and others.

We have set up a network of cooperating research and diagnostic laboratories (OHENET). The scope is to join the efforts to tackle zoonotic and animal diseases from a laboratory perspective. So far laboratories from University of Basilicata and University of Naples “Federico II“ joined the network . We are working to expand the network.
